This special exhibition of vintage film posters from the collection of producer and award-winning design director Mike Kaplan spotlights the movie poster as an underappreciated art form and explores the diverse ways in which dance has been used as a dominant image to represent musicals and other films.
Gotta Dance! comprises more than 40 distinct pieces of varying size and rarity, selected for their artistic and historical significance. The majority of the posters date between 1930 and 1950, a golden age for movie poster design. International examples come from the U.K., France, Germany, Italy, Belgium, Sweden, Denmark, Poland and Argentina. Read an introduction by Mike Kaplan here.
