This inaugural exhibition opened with the completed construction and dedication of the the William Rolland Football Stadium and Gallery of Fine Art. Though a handful of other football stadiums across the U.S. display art, the Rolland Gallery is proud to be the only one with a dedicated art space specifically for hosting rotating collections of art.
Works from this exhibition come courtesy of the William Rolland Collection, many pieces of which have been donated to Cal Lutheran’s permanent collection. Included are paintings by Phillip Edward Chillman, George Howard Gay, Thérèse Glaesener-Harmann, Rudolph Klingsbögl, Henry John Kinnaird, Heidy Seiler, and Josef Hansen Silhavy. Bronze decorative sculptures are on display after Eutrope Bouret, Joaquim Anglès Cañe, Claude Michel Clodion, Etienne Henri Dumaige, Henry Dasson, Adrien Étienne Gaudez, Hugo Kaufmann, Henri Louis Levasseur, Eugene Marioton, Auguste Moreau, Emile Louis Picault, Harold Shelton, and Vincenzo Vela.
Also on display for a limited time is a 1980 Grant King Indy 500 Race Car, part of the extensive William Rolland Racing Collection.
